The first day, from East Lansing to Mt Pleasant, was so bad due to constant headwinds, that I didn’t take any pictures and we were late to dinner. The second day, to McBain was almost as grueling, but we did stop for ice cream in Marion. On the third day, the hills blocked the wind and we actually enjoyed the ride to Elk Rapids. On the fourth day, we rode the route to East Jordan, then a bit of the Alternate Route toward Boyne City, but a quest for adventure caused us to craft our own course to the Ironton Ferry and into Charlevoix, where we caught the new bike path to Petoskey for a longer 80 mile ride. The fifth day through Harbor Springs, Goodhart, and Cross Village to Mac City was glorious. Overall: 352 miles.   © Ed Noonan 2006
