This year, the only route crossing the Mackinac Bridge was the 5-UP route, which terminated at DeTour Village. Up earlier than usual for the last day, we had to ride 17 miles and be on the Bridge by 10:00 am. With tailwinds on US-31, a relatively level road, we had no trouble at all.

Empty Big Mac. Most of the cyclists crossed before us and crossing at will instead of as a procession left some big openings. For my video clips of our crossing, go back to the DALMAC Reports menu.

When we got to St Ignace, we headed to a cafe for another breakfast.

As coordinator of the 5-UP route's Cedarville lunch stop, I was worried about how well the Les Cheneaux Bike Path group would do in their debut as a DALMAC food provider. I had nothing to worry about. They did great.

The Cedarville luch stop was an opportunity to check out U.P. maps for future trips to the recreational resources.

The volunteers at Cedarville did a great job in their debut as a DALMAC food stop. The only recommendations I heard were for more soup or chili, and perhaps some a la carte homemade desserts next year.

The Cedarville Community Center was a pleasant place to relax. Of course, with tailwinds all day, we were all relatively laid back.

Due to constant tailwinds, our progress on M-134 was stunning. Speeds upwards of 25 mph weren't unusual.

The north shore of Lake Huron is beautiful. An almost cloudless day didn't hurt at all.
